Overview The Simmons lab investigates how biomechanical forces on cells lead to regeneration, repair, and disease of cardiovascular tissues. Our dynamic team of engineers, biomedical scientists, and physicists tackle applied biomedical problems in the areas of heart valve mechanobiology and disease, stem cell-based tissue regeneration, and microfluidic physiological systems. We are affiliated with the Department of Mechanical & Industrial Engineering and Institute of Biomaterials & Biomedical Engineering at the University of Toronto, and are core members of the Translational Biology & Engineering Program in the Ted Rogers Centre for Heart Research. |
